Privacy policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
MyUniPal is a study app for university students in Nigeria. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it for us, and your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, password (stored scrambled, never readable), and photo if you add one.
- School details: your university, faculty, department, level and semester.
- Your courses, study times, exam dates and timetable photos.
- Files you upload (notes, slides, past questions, photos) and the text read from them.
- Your classes, questions (typed or voice notes), quiz, assignment, practice and mock exam answers and marks, and chats in Ask, including pictures you send.
- Notification settings and, if you turn on phone notifications, the address your browser gives us to deliver them.
- Basic usage records (for example how many tutor actions you used today) to keep the service fair and working.
- Which parts of the app you open, so we can improve them. When we look at what students ask Ask Pal, we only see broad topics across everyone, never your words or your name.
Why we use it
- To teach you from your own materials, mark your work, plan your revision and remind you of study times and exams.
- To keep your account secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To improve MyUniPal. We do not sell your data and we do not show you third-party adverts.
We rely on our contract with you (providing the service you signed up for) and, for optional features like phone notifications, your consent.
Who processes it for us
To run MyUniPal we use trusted service providers for hosting, storage, sign-in, notifications and the AI that powers the tutor. They process data only on our instructions and only what is needed, for example the text, voice note or picture needed for a reply. Some of them process data outside Nigeria, to a standard the Nigeria Data Protection Act accepts.
Who can see your work
Only you. Your notes, classes and answers are private to your account, and one course's material is never used in another course. We do not share your work with your school or other students.
How long we keep it
While your account is open. If you delete a file, it is removed from storage. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, apart from anything the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
- See the data we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Correct it (you can change most details on Me).
- Delete it, or ask us to delete your account.
- Object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent (for example, turn off reminders).
- Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use MyUniPal.
